The Android-based phones are reported to be priced under ₹20,000.
If you believe that what the world needs today is another smartphone brand, there is good news. According to reports, Bollywood star Salman Khan is venturing into the world of tech by launching a new smartphone brand of his own.
The 51-year-old, with legions of fans across India and among the Indian diaspora, already owns a clothing brand called Being Human. Now, he has registered a trademark for smartphones, called BeingSmart, reports the Economic Times.
“…Proceeds from the profit made by the BeingSmart brand will also be ploughed back into charity and social work that Salman Khan does with his Being Human Foundation.”
An executive told ET that the actor is looking for investors and expects to launch the device during the festive season.
In August 2016, Khan had released a video game called Being SalMan. In December, he had launched his Android and iOS based app for smartphones called, BeingInTouch.
Khan made headlines earlier this year, when the Jodhpur Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court acquitted him in the long-pending Arms Act case. After the acquittal, the actor’s lawyer Hastimal Saraswat called the case a “conspiracy” against the actor. Last year, Khan was also acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court in two cases of Chinkara (black buck) poaching in Jodhpur.
